One of the most talked-about, and most-viewed, videos of the past week is resulting in spectacular new numbers for Stevie Wonder’s music catalogue.
The Motown giant’s appearance as James Corden’s latest ‘Carpool Karaoke’ guest, on his ‘Late Late Show’ on CBS, has been a viral sensation in recent days. His ‘Definitive Collection’ album moved to No. 1 on iTunes’ album chart in the UK earlier this week.
The 11-minute video of the TV clip was viewed 2.5 million times on YouTube in just 24 hours after being posted on Tuesday (15). At this writing, it has 5.2 million views in three days. The CBS spot included Stevie performing such favourites as ‘Superstition,’ ‘I Just Called To Say I Love You,’ ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ and ‘Sir Duke.’
Meanwhile, Spotify reports that streams of Stevie tracks in the UK have more than tripled this week, with an increase of 246% over typical streaming totals.
The company has announced this morning (18) that Wonder has more than three million fans listening to his music monthly on Spotify.
Stevie’s new 20-date ‘Songs In The Key Of Life’ concert itinerary begins on September 30 in Montreal, concluding at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 24.
