Tangerine Dream, Tangerine Vinyl
The musical legacy of Edgar Froese, the founder of Tangerine Dream who died in January this year, will be further celebrated on Friday (8). The Invisible Hands label will release a special edition of Out Of This World, the retrospective that appeared earlier this year, compiled by Froese’s widow Bianca Froese-Acquaye.
The new version of the set will appear on a gatefold double LP in, very appropriately, tangerine-coloured vinyl. It features material from Tangerine Dream’s later work, in the era that meant the most to Froese-Acquaye.
The progressive rock pioneer was also posthumously honoured in June this year by electronica figurehead Jean Michel Jarre, who released a limited edition vinyl EP featuring ‘Zero Gravity,’ on which Froese featured. The track represented Jarre and Froese’s first and, sadly, last collaboration. Issued by The Vinyl Factory and limited to 1,000 copies worldwide, the EP also featured 3D from Massive Attack, and has now sold out.
