Presenter Bobby Friction will introduce Indian singing-sensations Benny Dayal and Palak Muchhal at the Prom, alongside Naughty Boy, on Wednesday, July 22 at 10:15pm. A night of “contemporary and classic Bollywood fused with mainstream beats” is promised, as east meets west in the company of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Richard Davis.

Sandé will join Naughty Boy for a performance of ‘Lifted,’ his top ten UK single of 2013 on which she sang, in an orchestral arrangement with the BBC Philharmonic. “I couldn’t do anything as important as the BBC Proms without Emeli,” said the producer. “Having her next to me is simply the icing on the cake.”

The Late Night With Asian Network Prom will also include Naughty Boy’s hit single ‘La La La’ and the first live performance of a new track, Runnin’,’ with Arrow Benjamin, orchestrated specially for the BBC Philharmonic. Indian playback singer Kanika Kapoor is also scheduled to join Naughty Boy to perform Bollywood classics, from films including ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,’ in the year of its 20th anniversary.

Benny Dayal will perform hits such as ‘Badtemeez Dil’ and ‘Bang Bang’ and pay tribute to AR Rahman and Kishore Kumar; Palak Muchhal’s set will include ‘Chahun Main Ya Naa’ and ‘Meri Ashiqui’ from ‘Ashiqui 2’. She will also pay homage to Lata Mangeshkar and Reshma.

The event takes place in the 50th anniversary year of Asian programmes on the BBC, and it launches a new series of Proms performances curated in collaboration with six BBC national radio stations – 6 Music, Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, Radio 2 and Radio 4.

Tickets and more information are available here. The performance will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and the Asian Network.
