New Andrea Bocelli Documentary Coming To Theaters This Fall
‘Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe’ will trace the world-renowned tenor’s life and career.

The story of Andrea Bocelli’s peerless career will be told in a new documentary this fall. Titled Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe, the movie will be released in select cinemas globally on Sept. 21.
Because I Believe reportedly offers unprecedented, intimate access to Bocelli’s life. Cosima Spender, the director behind the award-winning documentary Palio, pieced together new and archival interviews with candid footage of Bocelli away from the stage, as well as insights from the Italian tenor’s friends, family, and associates. Lionsgate is partnering with Trafalgar Releasing, a world leader in event cinema, to present the film in theaters around the world. Tickets go on sale July 16.
“The reason I welcomed with enthusiasm and gratitude the proposal to capture my entire life on film by Cosima — in its entirety, without filters — is reflected in the very title of the documentary: Because I Believe,” Bocelli explains. “I believe in people, in life, and in our Heavenly Father who gave it to us. I believe in the power of love — the force that moves the world — a love I have humbly tried to witness through my music and my life. It is for the sake of this message — of which I remain but a modest messenger — that I hope this film will be seen.”
As for Spender’s take on the project: “My aim in this film is to evoke the atmosphere of Andrea’s world,” she says. “To hear how music permeates every moment of his everyday life, to feel the force of his voice when he’s warming up, to witness his undeniable optimism, and hear him telling a good story in the way he tells it to his oldest friends. It’s been a great privilege to be able to capture this.”
Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, where Bocelli was on hand to dialogue with the media. Alluding to his love of horseback riding, he told reporters about his favorite experience making the movie: “Just putting a saddle on my horse and galloping into the countryside — that was the most memorable thing for me.”
