Avicii’s Estate Releases ‘Forever Yours – Tim’s 2016 Ibiza Version’
The single’s official release follows two documentaries that premiered on Netflix last December.
Avicii’s legacy continues to live on with the posthumous release of “Forever Yours – Tim’s 2016 Ibiza Version.” The single dropped today (Feb. 14) via Interscope Records, Pophouse and the Avicii Estate. “Forever Yours” was produced by the Swedish DJ alongside Marcus Thunberg Wessel with vocals by Swedish singer-songwriter Sandro Cavazza.
“Forever Yours” has long been a fan favorite and was officially released due to their growing requests. The new single follows two Netflix documentaries that premiered on the streaming platform on December 31, 2024.
Avicii – I’m Tim is a standard documentary that follows the producer, composer, and superstar DJ (born Tim Bergling) from his childhood and adolescence in Stockholm to the global fame he achieved as Avicii. It features never-before-seen archive footage and interviews with his family, friends, and colleagues, along with narration from Bergling himself. “When I determined that he’d be the one who’d narrate this story, I thought that maybe it was how I could be close to him. Maybe that’s how I can meet him,” the film’s director Henrik Burman said.
The second documentary, Avicii: My Last Show, follows Avicii’s final live performance, which took place on August 28, 2016, in Ushuaïa Ibiza. Avicii released two albums — 2013’s True and 2015’s Stories — before his passing at the age of 28 in 2018. The following year, his posthumous album Tim was released. All three albums have returned to the global charts following the release of the Netflix documentaries.
In 2023, in honor of True’s 10th anniversary, Pophouse and Universal released an album tribute including never-before-seen clips of the album’s creative process. That same year, the album’s lead single “Wake Me Up” was certified Diamond by the RIAA, making it the highest certified dance/electronic song in RIAA History. The Aloe Blacc-assisted single is known as Avicii’s signature song, topping the Billboard Hot 100 as well as iTunes charts in over 60 countries.
