Margaritaville Announces Second Annual Jimmy Buffett Day
Parrotheads’ chance to give back and celebrate all things Buffett begins Aug. 29 and continues through Labor Day weekend.

The second annual Jimmy Buffett Day is about to commence. Beginning Aug. 29 and continuing throughout Labor Day weekend, Margaritaville restaurants, resorts, hotels, communities, and cruises worldwide will celebrate the late singer-songwriter’s legacy with consumer activations, room packages, drink promotions, and a Day of Service featuring myriad ways to give back.
The festivities will benefit a range of organizations including Singing for Change, the nonprofit Buffett founded in 1995. Singing for Change supports inclusive, grassroots organizations designed to inspire personal growth, community integration, and collective action. The foundation’s stated goal is to help people and communities become smarter, safer, stronger, healthier, and whole.
“Our Day of Service is a reflection of Jimmy’s belief in living life with purpose, joy, and generosity,” Margaritaville’s Tamara Baldanza-Dekker said. “From beach cleanups to benefit concerts, each Margaritaville property is making a positive impact in their own community, while collectively celebrating the spirit that Jimmy brought to the world. We invite our guests to join us – whether at a Margaritaville location or by paying it forward in their own way, regardless of their latitude.”
Each Margaritaville property is hosting its own unique Jimmy Buffett Day event. The Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp will host a benefit concert supporting the San Diego Music Foundation at their 5 o’Clock Somewhere Rooftop Bar, with local bands, a travel-themed silent auction, and more. Fifty percent of food and beverage revenue will be donated to the cause. Meanwhile, the Fort Myers Beach resort is supporting the Autism Connection with a “Carnival of Fun” with sensory-friendly games, activities, and crafts, along with commemorative drink specials benefitting the cause.
Several cleanup efforts will be part of the initiative. In addition to supporting the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital with its annual Beach Bash, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort team members will spearhead a beach cleanup and “Cocktails for a Cause” promotion. Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe is bolstering the efforts of Keep Tahoe Blue by participating in a community cleanup and funding the nonprofit with $10 donations from each eligible booking as part of the “Keep the Party Going” package.
Margaritaville at Sea Islander will spearhead a Costa Maya beach cleanup supporting Menos Plástico es Fantástico, while Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is working with Palm Beach Maritime Academy, inviting students aboard to tour the ship, meet the captain, and learn about the maritime industry. Back on land at Margaritaville Resort Gatlinburg, team members will support Sevier County Humane Society with volunteer shifts at the animal shelter, while guests will be invited to donate pet supplies and support their own local shelters.
In the wake of Buffett’s death in 2023, large swaths of his catalog have recently been reissued on vinyl. All last year, new waves of Buffett reissues washed ashore, bringing beloved releases back to the format for the first time in decades and several ‘90s releases to vinyl for the first time ever.
