Bono Releases ‘Stories of Surrender Live’ EP
The new EP accompanies the Apple TV+ documentary of the same name.

A new Bono EP is on its way. Following Apple Original Films’ announcement of a new documentary, Bono: Stories of Surrender, the Stories of Surrender Live EP will accompany the film’s release on May 30.
The limited edition EP features three live recordings of classic U2 tracks: “Desire” from 1988’s Rattle and Hum, “The Showman” from 2017’s Songs of Experience, and “Sunday Bloody Sunday” from 1983’s War. The EP will be released on both streaming platforms and 7’’ black vinyl.
Bono: Stories of Surrender explores the U2 frontman’s one-man show, Stories of Surrender: An Evening of Words, Music and Some Mischief…, where he details personal stories and lessons from his life. The documentary will include never-before-seen footage from the U2’s singer’s April 2023 residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre as well as performances of the EP’s tunes.
Bono: Stories of Surrender is inspired by Bono’s best-selling memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, and the accompanying book/theatre tour. It is directed by Andrew Dominik with executive production by Bono, Jennifer Pitcher, and Kelly McNamara. The movie will premiere globally on May 30 on Apple TV+.
An abridged paperback version of the memoir will also be released in late May. Back in January, Bono received the Presidential Medal of Honor from President Joe Biden.
“Thank you President Biden,” Bono wrote on Instagram. “Frontmen don’t do humble, but today I was. Rock n roll gave me my freedom… and with it the privilege to work alongside those who’ve had to fight so much harder for theirs. And I want to give it up for my band mates – Edge, Adam, and Larry – without whom I would never have found my voice.”
