Jeremy Zucker Says ‘surprise!’ On New Single
The latest track off the Jersey Native’s third album, ‘Garden State,’ is a love letter to a younger self concerned with an uncertain future.

Jeremy Zucker has shared a new single, “surprise!” The track appears on the New Jersey-born, LA-based artist’s upcoming album, Garden State, out August 22 via Mercury Records.
An introspective and uplifting acoustic ballad, “surprise!” is a love letter written to the multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer’s younger self: “You don’t always need to know/Exactly what the future holds.” Zucker explains that “‘surprise’ is really surreal for me because it’s a letter to my younger self, who’s dream I’m literally living. That’s why the line ‘Cuz strange as it seems, I’m living your dreams, the voice coming out your speakers’ hits so hard for me, on one side I’m kind of time traveling, and on another, someone else who is listening could be listening to their future self. But the lyrics of the song hold all of what is special about it.”
Garden State is Zucker’s third full-length album. The album is led by “Hometown,” a sentimental anthem about returning to his New Jersey roots and revisiting childhood through an adult lens. The 14-track album documents Zucker’s decision to move across the country to pursue his musical dreams.
In September, Zucker will embark on the “Welcome to the Garden State Tour.” The North American leg begins in San Diego on September 16th at The Observatory North Park before stopping in major cities through October, including Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl, New York’s Brooklyn Steel, Toronto’s HISTORY, Los Angeles’ The Wiltern, and more. Zucker recently announced a second leg of the tour in Australia later this fall.
Earlier this year, Zucker and Chelsea Cutler covered Gracie Abrams’ viral hit “That’s So True” as part of their recent SiriusXM Coffeehouse Session. In late 2024, Zucker and Cutler released brent iii—the third installment of their fan favorite collaborative series. 2019’s brent yielded the Double-Platinum “you were good to me” and the fan favorite “please.” 2021’s brent ii included the Gold-Certified “this is how you fall in love” and “emily.”
