Aidan Bissett Announces Debut Album, ‘shut up and love me’
The indie-pop breakout star’s new single ‘2 much 2 handle’ is out now.

Aidan Bissett‘s debut album is just around the corner. The young indie-pop artist will release shut up and love me on July 25 via Capitol, and its latest single “2 much 2 handle” is out now.
“2 much 2 handle” is all about the intense longing inherent to a burgeoning romance. “On the table I was kissing your mouth, was it too much to handle?” Bissett sings. “Told your daddy that I slept on the couch, but he’s smart enough to figure it out.” The track begins as a warm, piano-led sway before switching to a hard-charging guitar rocker and racing its way back to the original alt-pop aesthetic.
“This one feels like a stop-and-go rollercoaster,” Bissett says. “It captures the feeling of hitting your highest peaks and your lowest lows. It’s about anticipation — you’re going up and up, but the fall never happens.” In the “2 much 2 handle” visualizer, directed by Gordy De St. Jeor, Bissett is on a less thrilling kind of ride; he walks in place on a conveyor belt as people pass him by.
Produced by Suzy Shinn and Slush Puppy, “2 much 2 handle” is the third single from shut up and love me following the sleek guitar-led stomper “richochet” and the new-wavey “are we in love yet?” Together, the songs paint a picture of an album with accessibility and range.
Bissett will promote shut up and love me on a tour of the United States this fall. His travels kick off Sept. 14 at the Music Box in San Diego. From there, he’ll make dozens of stops across the country before circling back to his home base of Los Angeles on Oct. 22 at the Fonda Theater.
