Rising DJ and producer HoneyLuv, known for her breakout tech-house hit “365 (Thr33 6ix 5ive),” has shared a new take on a classic with her remix of Peggy Lee’s signature song “Fever.” The track is set to soundtrack the upcoming season of the WNBA team that shares its name, the Indiana Fever, home to superstar Caitlin Clark. The song will be featured as their official tunnel entrance song at all 22 home games this season.

The new remix of “Fever” infuses the song with groove-laden rhythms, calling back to its jazz roots. Despite being her signature song, “Fever,” is not actually a Lee original. Written by Eddie Cooley and Otis Blackwell, the latter of whom was credited with the pseudonym “John Davenport,” the track was first recorded by American R&B singer Little Willie John in 1956. Two years later, Lee released her version of the track, with a collection of new lyrics and a different arrangement. Peggy’s lyrics about Romeo and Juliet and Captain Smith and Pocahontas were so memorable that they have been sung in most subsequent covers of the song.

HoneyLuv is the latest artist to release their own interpretation of “Fever,” joining the ranks of Elvis Presley and Beyonce. After moving to Los Angeles, the Cleveland-native found her true calling in music. She has earned accolades from BBC Radio 1’s Dance Future Stars, The New York Times’ Up Next, and Beatport’s One to Watch. She claimed DJ Mag’s Breakthrough Producer award in 2023 and has been embraced by house music heavyweights like Seth Troxler, Dennis Ferrer, and Jamie Jones.

In 2024, HoneyLuv founded her own label, 4 Tha Luv. “4 Tha Luv is for the love of house music, which means loving what started this — so loving the people who put it together, loving the LGBT community, loving the Black community that created this music, and knowing that history,” she shared with Rolling Stone.
